This years' Arts for All printmaking mentee was Consuela Ortiz. Primarily a dancer, and originally from Columbia, Cony elected to the Arts for All programme to gain skills in printmaking, with a particular focus on photopolymer techniques. The programme granted a mentoring period of ten hours - during which Cony learned how to design negatives, to prepare and laminate metal, with plenty of time dedicated to experimenting with lay out and developing a colour palate. The method makes good use of Cony's existing photograph collection - documenting her time in both Columbia and Northern Ireland.
Works by Cony will be exhibited alongside those of other mentees on the programme in the John Luke Gallery in April 2017.
